Au Charmant Petit Lac · Champoluc · the Fosson family

“Happy is he, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his own home.”

Au Charmant Petit Lac is a 5-star ecohotel in Champoluc, in Val d’Ayas (Aosta Valley). It is owned by the Fosson family, who founded it and run it. The family atmosphere is not a tone of voice: it is the way the house was conceived, built and lived in every single day.

01 — Our family

Luigi Fosson and Pamela Zacco.

Au Charmant Petit Lac is owned by Luigi Fosson and his wife Pamela Zacco, hoteliers from the Aosta Valley based in Champoluc. Together with their children Sarah, Cesare, Henri and Pascal, they manage their hospitality businesses as a family.

Luigi Fosson, born in 1948, is a hotelier from Ayas and president of Adava, the association of hotels and tourism businesses of the Aosta Valley. Pamela Zacco works alongside him running the house. Together they wanted a five-star mountain hotel that would also be a family hotel: small, recognisable, rooted in its valley.

Fosson hotellerie did not begin in 2019. Around a hundred years ago it was Luigi’s grandmother who opened the first family hotel in the valley, when tourism in Val d’Ayas was still in its early days. Au Charmant Petit Lac is the contemporary chapter of that story: the same craft, the same valley, a new idea of luxury.

Beyond the ecohotel, the family is present in the area with L’Emporio, Le Bistrot, the Vieux Crest mountain hut and Eno-Therapy.

02 — The opening

Opened in 2019 in Champoluc.

Au Charmant Petit Lac opened in 2019 in Champoluc, in the hamlet of Ramey, in the municipality of Ayas.

The building is a new construction: three floors above ground, an attic floor and a basement. It stands in the centre of the village, sheltered by grounds of about 15,000 sqm with a little lake. There are 28 rooms and suites over three floors; spa, restaurants and common areas all stay within the same house.

The plan in 2019 was not to open another mountain hotel. Luigi Fosson wanted to prove that in the Aosta Valley you can build a five-star hotel with zero combustion emissions, without giving up comfort, design and hospitality. Geothermal energy, solar thermal, wood and local stone are not a later addition: they are part of the project, from the foundations up.

In September 2022 the hotel won the Aosta Valley episode of 4 Hotel with Bruno Barbieri, on Sky.

03 — Our values

Home, valley, respect.

The values of Au Charmant Petit Lac are one and the same as the way the Fosson family understands hospitality.

Home

Luxury, here, is simplicity, warmth and attention to detail. The hotel is shaped around the family’s own tastes and around what the Fossons look for when they travel: hospitality without filters, spaces in wood, quiet, a stay that feels genuinely liveable.

Valley

Champoluc, Val d’Ayas and Monte Rosa are not a backdrop. Zero-kilometre breakfast, Aosta Valley and Savoyard cooking, local materials, local people: the hotel exists to let guests be in this valley, not in an interchangeable five-star hotel.

Respect

Sustainability means zero combustion emissions, geothermal energy, solar thermal and care for the people who work in the house. Passion, professionalism and kindness are the criteria by which the team is chosen.
